Noting the title, you can see that I'm not saying these are my "most"
favorite movies, because I really have too many likes to narrow it
down... even to 4.
Just the most recent 4 I've watched at theaters, home, or downloaded, in no particular order, and in a review-like structure :)
::: Home 2015
If
you like a good movie with aliens in it, but would rather have no
bloody guts, incisions, or slimy things hatching out of people (gotta be
in the mood lol) then home is a good one to watch.
The timing is
smart, the characters are focused on in the fashion of how a book would
play out. Not too much development, which can lead to a plot lull, and
not too little, which can leave the whole story feeling empty of
emotion. The soundtrack isn't of my favorite genres, but the songs really
do work to move energy into the story, without taking over the story or
overpowering everything else for their entire duration. The language
styling of the Alien "Oh" and the emotional angsty teenager "Tip", play
upon each other in a comedic fashion, which I personally like in a
movie. The deeper point of the plot, is a spoiler which I won't spoil
for you guys, but I'll say this; Cpt. Smeck is a shmuck for hitting
people with a shusher :P

::: Zootopia 2016
First
off, I'd like to comment that I think the advertisement department
could have done a bit better in marketing this film. One could argue
that different previews may have given away the plot, but focusing so
much on the "skunk but rug" (Which was a very small part) was a bit of a
disservice to the complexity of this movie. On to complexity.
This
is both a blessing and a curse for Zootopia. In a plot with as many
twists and turns, it could have been given another 13 minutes, making it
an even 2hrs. But where it suffers from plot stacking, it makes up for
it by that being done in an intelligent way.
The character design is
really great, from the main characters, to the lesser roles. All the
easter eggs and little hints to other movies is pretty nice too. The
pace is fast, perhaps a tinge too fast, but it does have a few
appropriate and much needed slow downs to ease things in that area.
The
personality of the two main characters work well, giving room for the
fox to move quickly out of the villain status one might attach to him
towards the beginning. A few cliches, a few common tropes, but nothing
boring.
I absolutely would not recommend a sequel being made to
this. All lose ends were wrapped up, unlike Dory's missing family in the
upcoming Nemo sequel, Zootopia really doesn't have the life in it for a
2. Some movies are better off that way, rather than flogging a new plot
out of it for a little more money.
Saying much more probably would give spoilers away, as the plot is entirely everywhere.
I suggest you give Zootopia a watch :)

::: Casablanca 1943
An old one, but still good.
WW1,
a love triangle, hidden agendas and a good man who has developed a hard
cold outer shell, only to have it broken, letting his better nature
show once more, make this a good watch.
No swearing or slang, no fart
jokes or anything of the sort, and yet this movie still holds out
through the test of time. I think in a way it sends a message that even
during wars, violence and massive turbulence, that somewhere, someone is
loving someone. I won't give away any crucial spoilers, but the part
where an interesting friendship is formed between unlikely people, and
when the sadness of the moment is eased by a desire to do what's right,
helps to make this one of my favorites.

::: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 2005
Here's
another interesting alien related film, or at least this movie tries to
question whether we ourselves are the alien life forms.
The comedy
is well done, each character of importance is given a motive if needed,
and the ones that don't can actually be the most comical, such as
Marvin.
As it goes along, we see the regret of Arthur over his poorly
spent time on earth, an overdue romance forming, some justice and
injustice served, and an unusual ending.
One could say this movie has
atheistic overtones, but even personally as a Christian, this does not
bother me, because it is just a movie which doesn't really force it's
view or nonview upon anyone.
If you're looking for decent comedy,
something different, a bit of horrible poetry, a killer plot twist, and
some slartibartfast, this movie is pretty good too. Don't Panic!!

That's
all for now, I was going to make this list bigger because of all the
movies I do like, but if I've not watched them recently (Not a huge
amount of time for Tv nowadays) then I won't be able to talk about them
in any constructive way :P
